Dior Just Dropped a Fragrance for Babies

Dior’s latest offering is perfect for the luxe bébé in your life.

The French brand’s Baby Dior line is now selling a $230 scented water for little ones, Hypebeast reported on Monday. Bonne Étoile is basically a perfume for children, with notes of pear, wild rose, and white musk. The fragrance was created by Dior Perfume’s creative director, Francis Kurkdjian, while the bottle design comes from Baby Dior’s artistic director, Cordélia de Castellane.

“For Baby Dior, I wanted to create a scented water for little ones that is as simple as they are,” Kurkdjian said in a statement. “A child says ‘yes,’ says ‘no,’ ‘I like’ or ‘I don’t like.’ A formula imposed itself, like an impulse, a smile.”

The water-based scent is made of 98 percent natural-origin ingredients and is free of alcohol, making it safe and gentle for babies’ delicate skin. Dior recommends that it’s applied just to a child’s neck or sprayed in their room. For the fashionable baby, Bonne Étoile can be bought in a light pink or a light green colorway, and the bottle depicts a Toile de Jouy pattern with a garden of Granville.

Bonne Étoile builds on Dior’s legacy of offering its high-quality beauty products to even the youngest among us. In 1970, the brand launched its Baby Dior line, and it’s now revisioning the skin-care offerings for the more modern child. Along with the scented water, there’s a face and body moisturizer ($115); a face, body, and hair cleansing foam ($95); and a face and body cleansing water ($95). Those products all use a similar pear scent.

“I wanted to bypass the inevitable orange blossom that has long been the signature scent of childhood, and find a soothing fragrance in a different formula: a dewy and green pear note, brightened by wild rose, wrapped in soft, cottony, protective musks,” Kurkdjian said about Bonne Étoile.

While the moisturizers and cleansers come in 11.8-ounce bottles, the scented water is only available in a 3.4-ounce option. Thankfully, new babies are known for smelling quite good, so you can probably hold off on ordering Bonne Étoile until they’re a little bit older—and perhaps able to appreciate a good perfume.
